A Simple Guide To Find Out Your Body Type

By  Bella Elsher separator Fashion separator 3 Min Read

To be fashionable is to celebrate and revel in one's uniqueness while making a graceful public declaration of who one is. Using this guide, we expect you'll gain a deeper appreciation for the clothes that flatter your figure. You can't change your body shape by simply losing or gaining weight; rather, your bone structure and genetics play the most significant role. You can have any body type you want, regardless of your age or current weight. Recognizing your body type is only the beginning of accepting your individuality.

Finding Your Body Type: A Guide

Although measuring tapes provide a more accurate formula for determining your body type, the numbers you write down can easily lead to unnecessary self-doubt. If you have access to a full-length mirror, there is a much more effective and convenient method you can use.

Stare at your reflection and evaluate your body's proportions. Your body type is established by the proportions of your shoulders/bust, waist, and hips.

Take a mental note of where your shoulder blades and hips intersect. Take a picture of yourself in the mirror if you're having trouble visualizing what you're doing.

Examine the images of various body types and see if your responses to the following questions match up with what you see.

1.    First, do you think your hips, your waist, or your bust are the widest parts of your body?
2.    Where do you have the most trouble physically?
3.    Is there a specific area of your body that shows weight gain or loss first?
4.    How do you feel about your body type's suitability for various styles?

Recognizing Your Body Type

There are three things to remember when searching for clothing that flatters your figure, regardless of your body type.

Having some breathing room in your body proportions is the key to looking slimmer. Maximize the attractiveness of your breasts, waist, and hips! Bringing more focus to one area of the body can take the spotlight off of another, less appealing area. Wear what you're most proud of (and reveal your inner confidence)!

Use lines and silhouettes to catch the viewer's eye. When designing a garment, it's important to think about where you'll put things like seams, pockets, and embellishments. If you want your legs to look longer and your waist to look more like an hourglass, you need to draw attention to these areas with the right lines. Certainly!

Use caution when incorporating colour or print. It's human nature to be attracted to bold colours and intricate patterns. A print's dimensions are an important consideration. Larger prints and wider lines increase the volume, while smaller prints and thinner lines decrease it. You can use these to shift the focus from any unflattering areas to more positive ones.

A GUIDE TO BODY TYPES

1. Hourglass:

You have a well-defined waist, a fuller bust, and probably larger hips and thighs as well, so the word "curvy" can be used to describe you.

What to Wear If You Have an Hourglass Shape

It's encouraged to flaunt your curves more if they are well-proportioned. To look more feminine, draw attention to your waist. Wrap tops and dresses, which cinch in at the tiniest part, are your new best friend. Try wearing high-rise bottoms if you want to give the impression of a narrower waist and longer legs. Boxy, low-rise silhouettes are excellent for disguising your middle section.

2. Inverted Triangle

If your shoulders and bust are wider than your hips, you have an inverted triangle body type.

How to Style An Inverted Triangle Figure

Wearing a top with a low or off-the-shoulder neckline will draw attention away from your shoulders and onto your stunning face. Look for clothes that cinch your waist and highlight your hips to achieve a more proportionate silhouette. The proportion between your broad shoulders and narrow hips can be improved by emphasizing your waist with high-rise jeans and a belt. Tight-fitting bottoms will make your hips look even smaller, so you shouldn't wear them with a loose-fitting top.

3. Oval

The characteristics of an oval figure are:
• A waistline that is the same size as or larger than the hips and bust.
• You don't have a well-defined waist.
• If you gain or lose weight, it will show up first in your middle.

How to Dress an Oval-Shaped Figure

Lines and silhouettes are great tools for creating optical illusions. Find clothes that emphasise your shoulders and hips rather than your stomach to visually lengthen your frame. Minimal prints that fit on the palm of your hand will help you look trimmer. Avoid cropped clothing with voluminous ruffles, which can make you look shorter and wider.

4.    Rectangle

Indicators that your body shape is a rectangle include:
•    Your bust, waist, and hips are all roughly the same size.
•    You don't have a natural waist curve; rather, it's straight.
•    It's safe to assume that your height exceeds the norm.
•    You might be in good shape physically.

How To Style A Rectangle-Shaped Figure

Styles that add volume to the bust and hips equally will do the best job of giving the impression of an hourglass figure. If you wear high-rise pants and a belt, your long legs will stand out and your waist will be cinched in. You can look fantastic in structured and tailored garments, but you should avoid boxy cuts at all costs.
